Interview with Delphine Durand, Research & Developmment Director
When did you first start working with Bolloré Thin Papers?
When working towards more environmentally friendly processes, we were looking for ecologically sound paper that best met this requirement while reconciling economic and quality issues.
Why was Bolloré Thin Papers a good solution?
The paper sold by Bolloré Thin Papers met three criteria: the quality of the paper matches that of our products with a good compromise between whiteness/transparency, low grammage (50 g/sqm) to limit high transport costs, respect the environment and use fewer raw materials during manufacturing.
What are the results in terms of savings? Quality?
We have published our largest catalogue yet for nursery schools in France and abroad, in 330,000 copies. And Primacoat Green enables us to meet all our requirements financial (8% gain) and quality, with great whiteness and low transparency that produces very good results when printed.
Is choosing Primacoat Green part of a more global policy?
As we have explained previously, yes.
The issue of sustainable development seems particularly important in your company. Have you any other projects in this field?
Our work to reduce environmental impact centres on transport, a pillar of mail order selling (reducing packaging, reduction of double-mailings due to customer requests, etc...). We also work to improve recycling and reduce the use of drinking water, which is a real issue in this region. We constantly question the manufacturing of our products from the very start of the process. We take part in raising awareness on sustainable development issues through our “Together for the Earth”Circus organised in schools. This giant park goes from town to town, organising activities, lasting a few days or a week, on themes such as respecting our planet", “living together” and “consumer responsibility”for children aged 6 to 12.
You have decided to join our “life”programme by displaying the label on your publications. On which catalogue(s) does it appear?
The label appears on all export versions of our catalogue. Due to time constraints, we didn't affix it to our French versions.
What is the aim of using this label?
It is important to show our clients that companies such as Wesco and Bolloré thin Papers are aware of the effect of their actions and they are acting to limit environmental impact. We know that 0% environmental impact is impossible, but with some common sense and by working together we can do a great deal.
